Mandrake ‘Mermaid II’, India ink, 2017

Another ‘mermaid’, based on a living root of Mandragora officinarum, which I have grown from seed. I enjoyed creating this drawing in the solitude of my office-atelier, windows open and rain pouring outside. I also felt it flows nicely with the texture of the paper. It’s a beautiful feeling for the artist when all flows and falls into place naturally. This drawing is now on its way to Spain, along with the actual plant.
